Privacy Policy

ParrotJS is built to be private by default: your code never leaves your machine. This policy explains the personal data that is processed when you use the extension or buy a license, why, and your rights.
The Short Version
- Your source code is never transmitted anywhere. ParrotJS runs entirely locally.
- Licensing uses a small set of identifiers: your email address, a machine identifier, your license key and related licensing data.
- We keep license records for as long as necessary to provide and validate your license, support license recovery, prevent abuse, comply with legal obligations, and resolve disputes.
- Payments are handled by Lemon Squeezy (Merchant of Record) — they process your payment details; we never see your full card number.
Who Is Responsible (Controller)
ParrotDev (“we”, “us”) operates the ParrotJS extension and this website and is the controller for the personal data described below. Contact for privacy matters: yethought@gmail.com. Please do not send privacy requests through our public GitHub issue tracker — use the private contact above so your data isn’t exposed.

Data collected by Lemon Squeezy at checkout
When you buy, Lemon Squeezy acts as Merchant of Record and independently collects and processes what a seller needs for a purchase: billing and payment card details, customer name/address, order and tax records, and invoices. Lemon Squeezy has its own responsibilities toward you as the seller of record; see the Lemon Squeezy Privacy Policy. We receive only what we need to issue your license (such as your email and order reference) and never see your full payment card details.
License validation requests
Trial and PRO licenses revalidate approximately once per day against the license server hosted by Lemon Squeezy. These requests carry your license key and activation identifier — nothing about your work or code. The machine identifier is used when creating or binding the activation record, not on every validation request. Temporary network failures do not immediately invalidate an activated license.
What We Never Collect
- Your source code — every file executes in a forked Node.js child process on your machine; nothing is uploaded, logged remotely, or analyzed in the cloud.
- Telemetry or analytics — there is none from us. No usage stats, no crash reporting, no tracking.
- Advertising data — we do not sell personal data or share it for advertising.
Service Providers
We rely on a small number of providers to operate ParrotDev:
- Lemon Squeezy — Merchant of Record for purchases (payments, VAT/taxes, invoicing, refunds) and host of the license server used for activation and validation.
- Website/email infrastructure — hosting and email delivery needed to run this site and deliver license emails.
These providers may process technical data (e.g., IP addresses in server logs) as necessary to provide their services. We do not use them for advertising or profiling.
Cookies and Local Storage
This website uses only functional browser storage (e.g., remembering your light/dark theme choice). No advertising or analytics cookies are set.
Retention
License records (email, license key, machine/activation identifiers, order references) are retained for as long as necessary to provide and validate your license, support license recovery, prevent abuse, comply with legal obligations, and establish or defend legal claims. Activation records for a machine can be removed earlier — for example, when you deliberately deactivate a license on that machine. Data held by Lemon Squeezy as Merchant of Record (payment and invoice records) is retained under their policies and applicable tax law.
Legal Bases (GDPR)
For users in the EU/EEA:
- Contract — processing your email and licensing identifiers to deliver and validate the trial or license you requested or purchased.
- Legitimate interests — keeping license records to prevent fraud/key abuse, support existing customers, and secure the service.
- Legal obligation — retaining purchase/invoice records where required by tax and commercial law.
Where we rely on legitimate interests, we have balanced those interests against your rights and freedoms.
International Transfers
Our providers (including Lemon Squeezy) may process data outside your country, including in the United States. Where required, transfers rely on appropriate safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses adopted by the provider.
Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction (including the EU/EEA under GDPR), you may have the right to:
- Access — get a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
- Rectification — correct inaccurate data;
- Erasure — request deletion of your data;
- Restriction — ask us to pause processing while a dispute is resolved;
- Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interests;
- Portability — receive your data in a structured, commonly used format where processing is based on contract and carried out automatically;
- Complaint — lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
To exercise any right, contact yethought@gmail.com. Erasure is not absolute: we may retain personal data where continued processing is permitted or required by applicable law, including where necessary to comply with legal obligations or to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims. Where data is necessary to provide or validate an active license, we will explain any effect deletion may have on that license before processing the request. You can also deactivate a license on a machine yourself at any time from inside the extension, which removes that activation.
Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes materially, the updated version will be published on this page with a new “Last updated” date.
